[RC] straight loads - Tracey Smith

I have a two horse bp straight load and always tie mine in the trailer.  I did not used to "always" do it until I got Amira, as my older mare is a perfect angel in the trailer, but if you do not put the trailer tie on her the minute she gets in the trailer Amira will crane her long giraffe neck around and then get it stuck on the other side as the manager divider goes part way back the length of the stall.

Twice this happened because I loaded her and then thought I'd run around and hook up the trailer tie "in a minute"....by the time I did that darn mare had her neck caught and had we been moving and I had to stop fast, she could have easily broken her neck as Jonni described.  When it did happen I had to unload her...and then reload her....a task neither she or I enjoyed.

If I had a slant load I might think differently but as long as I have this trailer...everyone gets tied.
