Re: [RC] [RC-Digest] Wildlife sightings - Zephyr Arabians

life sightings

We have a ride in SE MN that takes us past (I kid
you not) a PEACOCK farm.
The first year I competed Cheers--not a year I care
to think about anyway--we
came past the farm, and he stopped dead when he saw
a male peacock right by
the road. Then the peacock decided to fan his tail
and give that earsplitting call.

I guess growing up in Palos Verdes, CA, causes one to
no longer consider peacocks as wildlife. :) They're
EVERYWHERE. You can't ride in PV without encountering
peafowl all the time: hens & chicks and LOTS of males
showing off. They're not remotely bothered by the
horses, and the horses figure out not to care about
the peacocks either. The worst thing about them
(besides the damage to your roof and/or garden) is
that noise they make. I was always checking trees to
make sure that it was really a peacock and not a
stranded cat or tortured child...
