If there's room it's even better to have 2 6V golf car batteries hooked 
together to make 12 V. (I think it's "in series" but I always get that 
confused with "parallel".) Anyway you have them wired together to make a 12 
volt out of them.  The battery manufacturer recommended they would last 
longer (more recharges) than a 12 volt marine battery. They said the golf 
car ones are made to be used completely dead and recharged more times.
