[RC] one rein stop - Ed Kilpatrick

amy, the scenario you described is exactly why you must teach the horse lateral flexion/one rein stop on the ground, then in the saddle at a standstill BEFORE using this technique on a horse galloping down the trail.   this technique will work with any horse that has been properly taught, including former racetrack thoroughbreds.  i know, because i am working with a former racetrack thoroughbred now, and he responds extremely well to one rein stops.  but i didnt get him out there, run him wide open, then try to haul his head around.  i taught him on the ground first.        cowboy ed
