[RC] kinda sorta stupid question about lateral flexion/one rein stop - Ed Kilpatrick

hi amy,  not a stupid question at all.   the biggest difference is that it is best to teach the lateral flexion/one rein stop from the ground first in just a halter and leadline.  another difference is that with these excercises you want the horse to stand still during the entire excercise.  you dont want him to circle around a while and then stop, but learn to stand still as soon as you flex the neck around.  do several repititions, flexing to each side, then, when your horse does it real well from the ground,  do the same excercise from the saddle.  i have a rather lengthy, detailed explanation of it written out, if you want to know more, email me, whytrotfarmsatyahoodotcom, and i will share.        cowboy ed
