Re: [RC] barn plans - OT - Jackie Causgrove

Ya, one place where I used to board my horse, the snow shed off the roof and right into the paddock area (3 sided shed with paddock).  There were several of these in a row; sharing a common roof and walls.  We had a lot of snow that year and it warmed up quickly.  An anvalanche of sorts.  Fortunately, none of the horses were caught in that.
I love all these suggestions!

One more practical suggestion, If you live in a snowy area consider the ridge pole line.  You do not want wet snow cascading off of the roof onto your neck when you go in a door.  The same for a run in part.  A shed roof is much more practical.  Then the snow can slide off on the closed side.  If it can slide off on the entrance side, a bank will build up.  Eventually this bank of compacted ice and snow will restrict the height.  A friend's horse got a severe head cut when the clearance on his shed was restricted by the ice bank.
