I loved all those books, but Black Gold was the best. I was always 
reminded of that as Go For Wand broke her leg and struggled to continue 
down the stretch in the Breeder's cup. It was so hideous to watch, that 
mare wanting to run with her leg flapping like that. So, I guess the 
same quote applies to that gallant mare as well.
