Not being a nutrition expert, but from my own experience, I would
have to agree with this. Shaba got pretty skinny by the end of 
last year, and I had his teeth checked, wormed him, and tried 
rice bran, all-in-one, and more beet pulp to his diet in addition
to a half hour of grass (he is a stallion and boarded and I have
to 'babysit' him in the pasture to let him eat as their fences arent the 
greatest around it) and grass hay. He gained a little,
but with winter coming on I needed to add more FAST. Someone recommended adding 
corn oil to his diet, and that was what finally
made a difference.  Of course, different horses may have different
results, but this is definitely what worked for me.........
