[RC] Endurance stallions - Katrina O'Neal

Hi --

It's funny I should join this group just on a day you are discussing stallion! Personally, I prefer mares, but I can say from a breeder's standpoint, it does take two to tango.

I have a young stallion that I think will produce super endurance prospects. He is an "Akhal-Teke", which is a rare breed from Central Asia known for their athletic ability, endurance and powerful floating trot. In the case of "Kinor" (my stallion) you also get color, since he's a cremello.

I've bred several of my Arab mares to Tekes in the past and the cross is really incredible. There are afew of the crosses out there competing and more to come. Tekes have a long, radiator-type body, big bone, (Kinor has 8.25" to 910lbs of body weight), good feet and a very smooth way of going. They really bring alot to the table in terms of breeding. Generally, they are taller than Arabs (Kinor is still growing, but should finish around 15.2hh), so they add that. And if you want to, most have a natural ability at dressage and jumping as well.

Kinor is not yet four, but I hope someday to compete off of him. Unfortunately his performance will be restricted by MY ability...not the other way around. He has only one foal on the ground (born last year), but we're expecting six this year...three from Arab mares! I have one due any day out of a 15.3hh (honest) chestnut granddaughter of Euros with Silver Drift on her bottom line. I can hardly wait for her to pop that sucker out! Then my wonderful Polish mare is due the end of May. She has already produced another Teke cross that is just starting his serious endurance career and is (hopefully) aimed for Tevis this year. At least, we've got our fingers crossed.

I'm only charging $650 LCFG this year and that included one collection. And if you have a proven endurance mare, I might be sweet-talked into taking abit more off the price!

Check out some of his photos at

and open the Album entitled "Kinor". At the very end is a picture of one of last year's foals...a filly o/o a Teke mare and by a Bask-bred Arab stallion. It's a wonderful cross!
