==========================================

I had a similar problem with my 8 yr. old mare last fall. She felt slightly
stiff & would not round up nicely. I rode her a couple of times just thinking
she was being stubborn before I realized something was really wrong.
Vet described left hind end lameness at about 1.5 - high hip and short stride.
Radiographs revealed small bone spur on stifle - osteoarthritis.
Vet injected HA into joint & I stalled her for 2 weeks & gave bute & loading
doses of glucosamine. She was rested in 30 acre pasture for 4 months and I
just started riding her again in March. She is doing great, back to her old
self but I'll probably not attempt anything longer than LD's with her again
(and maybe not that either, we'll see).
Good luck,
Karen H.
