[RC] Horsefencing...A Jumper....may be a scooter - Judy Finchum

Hi Val,

My 14.2 hand mare (Arab) would do the same thing....end up in a pasture that
was being saved for later rotation. The electric fencing was two wires; bottom
wire I would guess 18 inches from the ground and top wire 4 1/2 to 5 feet. I
don't know how
much juice was pulsing through, but she was found several times in the "off
limits" pasture before the barn manager saw how she did it. Everyone thought
she must be jumping the fence, but actually she was squeezing her body through
the 2 strands.
Manager said she had to have seen it with her own eyes to believe it. Lib put
her front feet through first, folded up her body and scooted through.

She isn't a great escape artist, but after eating she does leave her stall to
go back out by scooting under her rubber stall guard (which is ok, because the
stall guard is there up to keep the other horse from going in at feeding).
