Daughter and I have those too, same reason. My velcro ones did occasionally 
get caught on 'stuff; reins, brush, etc.They also stretched eventually. I 
did add an elastic piece to the snap at the bottom, cause I liked the 
snap,it just didn't fit the terrains like it would slimmer paddock boots.
