Re: [RC] battery operated fence chargers - Chris Paus

I take a metal electric step in fence post to put the battery charger on. The rest of my corral posts are step in plastic. That seems to give it enough ground to do the job as long as there's some moisture in the ground. If the ground is hard and dry, you  might have to pour some water where the metal post will go.,

I just bought a small battery operated charger from Country Supply for
around $40. I'm planning on trying it out in a few weeks at a ride. I do
have a question though...it says I need to "properly ground" the charger
with a copper rod 6 FEET!! long?? How in the heck do I put a 6 foot long rod
in the ground, and better yet...how in the heck do I get it OUT of the
ground when I leave?? Can I just use a little one foot long rod for weekend
trips?

Thanks
