==========================================

My Appaloosa Warpaint had colic surgery for enteroliths in June of 1994. He
was back on the trail in September and I did a 50 mile ride at Death Valley in
December of that year. On the second day there he got a nasty quarter crack
from the weakened area of hoof growth from the surgery. There was much more
downtime associated with the crack than the colic surgery. He's had a variety
of things happen to him but it seems that the colic surgery was one of the
quickest that he recovered from.

Warpaint did about 3,000 more miles in endurance after his surgery and retired
at the end of 2003 with about 4,000 miles. We still ride him and he's still a
pistol.  Some men never change...

Good luck with your horse's recovery.
