RE: [RC] rider weight - Mcgann, Barbara

Yes, it touches nerves.  Mostly cause it is anonymous writers that make wild statements.  Ironically, I am not overweight...I am like Dr. Weary, 6' 3" tall and weigh 190 which is not overweight for that height, so why should I be defending the overweight?  This is timely....I work at a radio station, and just today a caller into the show made the statement that fat people shouldn't be seen going into restaurants.  Our dj said that was ridiculous, but nonetheless, our phones lit up.  People were calling in tears.  Some were outraged, threatening to go to the BBB or FCC, saying it was discrimination.  (Its not).  But the point is... that yes, insensitive or nasty comments about "peoples" weight, height, or anything else causes hurt feelings.  I am sure that exactly NONE of us are so pure and perfect that we don't have one problem or another.

Rider weight has touched a lot of nerves and caused hard feelings.  Too bad, so sad.  How about giving your horse a little more consideration.  Lose a few!
