Re: [RC] Where are the 25 mile LD Rides?? - Chrystal

If you are in Maine how about coming across the border to Nova Scotia? I am pretty sure they have shorter rides, you can find them on google, the acronym is ACTRA-- Atlantic Trail Riding Assoc? Or something  really close to that.:-) ;-)

I am in Ontario - there just are not a huge amount of riders up here so pretty much everyone does both CTR's and endurance( we are the same club), CTR's aren't  bad- at least not here,  you ride 25-30 miles and your horse loses points at the end of it for abrasions, lameness, high heart rate etc... nothing crazy like if you mounted on the right side of your horse or not, is this really true in the States??

Our 50 mile endurance  rides always have a 25 "mileage" ride offered as well, it isn't a race as there are no prizes or placings at the end, ( although the 25 miles is added to your record) it has the same rules as the endurance race so no CTR stuff and is great for anyone who has a horse who isn't fit enough for a 50( like mine who hasn't been ridden all winter and there is still too much ice on the ground to start :-(  ) or wants to take their time getting into it . I can't see it being difficult to add a  25 mile  mileage ride to a 50 in your area-- phone the ride managers and ask them-  convince them they will get more people at the ride and therefore more $!!!:-) ;-) and if that doesn't work,  go to a 50 and pull at 25 ! If it is experience and conditioning you are looking for and that is the only way.....:-) ;-) ;-)

Good luck :-)
