[RC] re: dual sanctioning discussion - Cindy Collins

First, I must tell you that even though I did not finish the Ft. Howe ride
last year (got lost in the last 10 miles), ride management was very
positive and friendly, as were the vets. I was never treated as a second
class citizen, which I feared. It was a very well run ride. However, I
would not attend another dual sanctioned ride unless I had no other
choice. My main reason is not being able to take my horse back to my
trailer or rig. I'm getting too old to be dragging my gear, feed, people
food, clothes, etc. out into the middle of a field for no logical reason.
I do not have a fancy portable tent, nor a crew of 10+ people waiting on
me like the "super stars" do. My friend, Dorothy Sue Phillip, really
struggled with this aspect, also. Did other endurance friends offer to
help us...absolutely. But, I can see no reason for this foolishness. If
my goal was to do international riding, of course, I'd cowboy up and do
it. But, why go to a ride where all this is required, when I got into
endurance to get away from that type of rigidity. The segregated trailer
parking is also offensive, in principle. Cindy
