[RC] Rump Rugs - Aaron Turnage

I've made a couple of rump rugs now.  I use about a yard of fleece, or one of the smaller fleece throw blankets you can find in the stores on sale that are about a yard and a half or so(Albertson's $5/ea).  One thing I have done is to cut a rounded-U shape in the front of my rump rug.  This allows me to attach behind my saddle and then two smaller, thinner pieces that come down lower and attach to the girth-loop of my saddle pad (or around the girth if you don't have a keeper loop on the pad).  This prevents the rump rug from sliding side to side at all, plus is easier to roll up than a tail-loop would be.

Another of my "favorite" things I have done is make a fleece rug and then a waterproof nylon cover that attaches via velcro or snaps.  So I have the option now of using either or both at the same time, with the convenience of them acting as one piece.

Erika Nelson - Please email me privately if you read this.  I read via the archives and don't have your email.  I live in Spanish Springs and would like to get together sometime to ride.
