Re: [RC] [RC] Michel Bloch & Death Valley Encounter - Laurie Durgin

Yeeeeesss, from a mom whose daughter got back on and rode. If you don't remember the fall or lost a few seconds, you have been 'out'. She just had a headache that day and sore shoulder and butt, till 2 days later she developed a twitch that went to a jerk of the whole half of her body. Took 2 months for that to go away with medication and still had headaches for the last year and a half. She was wearing a helmet and she was just cantering a big warmblood in a sand ring, when he did a huge 'feel good' buck and launched her and she landed on a frozen spot in the ring.
The same week at a friends barn a girl took a tumble, horse just stopped and she fell off. She seemed fine, till her mom had her halfway homoe and she became combative, her brain was swelling, but took some time to show up.
If in doubt or any memory loss, go get checked .Hubbies a fireman and they have had many 'combative types' from a head injury.

I am so glad that everyone came out of this situation OK! I do have a
question though - when you lose consciousness, shouldn't you be checked
medically for a head injury? This happened at Cat Spring - a woman got
dumped and lost consciousness and then declined to go to the hospital (I
made sure all my friends know - no matter what I say - get me a CAT scan,
period).

I was under the assumption that you should always get checked after
something like that (in case you have a closed head injury that can make you
not wake up the next morning).
