[RC] Pre-Riding Tevis - ajandcrysta

I'm looking to pre-ride the Tevis trail this year.  Hopefully will be a competitor next year.  Tentatively looking at the weekend of July 3 - 5 and riding approx. 30 miles each day from start to finish.  Robie Park to Robinson Flat, Robinson to Foresthill, Foresthill to Auburn.  Saw that AERC just posted a 50-miler July 3rd from Devil's Thumb to Auburn....  Hhmmm, may do that instead.  Can always ride the high country later if necessary.

Anyways, can some riders more experienced with the trail give me some tips and advice?  Is the above three-day plan feasible?  Are there naturally occuring water sources in those segments for the horses to drink from?  Any potential hazards?  Anyone know how I can find out what the river level will be like at that time for crossings?  I have ordered both the participants guide and the trail guide (written by Hal Hall) from the Tevis store.  Any other maps, etc that are a must have?  Is it true that the trail has mile-markers?

Any experienced riders willing to join us for some or all of our journey?  Lots of questions but very eager to finally be taking the first steps of a 15-year dream.
