[RC] Kids, ponies and distance riding... Get a grip people - Alice Yovich

To me this is just wrong! I've always said that some things are just accidents. Of course there are stupid things that all people do, but some things are purely accidents. when Maggie was a baby my horse kicked her. I had taken tons of precautions and it was a really weird fluke thing...I even had a baby sitter with me and she managed to toddle just in kick range. She was fine thank goodness, but man, the people at the hospital gave me a heck of a time. I admit to getting really angry when I hear of a child being hurt or dying in an accident and then hearing that the did/did not plan to press charges. Of course some parents ARE negligent, but when an accident happens, I'm always angered by the police/courts/whoever who want to press charges.

In the case of a very serious injury or death, an incidient might cross
the like from a civil issue to one of a criminal issue. This has
happened before. A four wheeler flipped on a young kid and killed him -
the parents charged with involuntary manslaughter.
