Is there any way besides to hold a cold bit in my hand-to get it warmed up before I put it in my horse's mouth?

We don't have too much trouble with cold here in East Texas, at least not for very many months.  But some ideas that come to mind are to put the bit in your pocket as you groom/tack up your horse.  Or keep your horse's headstall/bit in the house rather than outside.  If it's not freezing, I suppose you could drop the bit into some warm water for a few minutes.  Just some ideas that come to mind.
