[RC] Riding amoungst wildlife - Julie Fuller

Okay, I've got a story to tell, since no one has come up with a story about this particular critter:

Several years ago, on a training ride with kids and friends, we were galloping up a LONG hill (about 2 miles) which was part of our 15 mile loop. As usual, I ended up in the lead, and coming arund a curve, ran right over a young porcupine! He rolled over and over as I stopped, then he trundled off into the brush.

I got off my horse, and threw rocks into the brush behind him, trying to get him to come back into sight, my son caught up, stopped and asked me what I was doing. I told him what was up, and he looked at me in total shock, saying "Mom! Are you nuts!" and promptly hid behind me! *grin*

The porcupine made his appearance, and we got a good look at the cute little bugger before he trundled off again. He didn't come back out when the other riders caught up.
