[RC] Toxic iron levels - rides2far

My new mare tied up last month. She is 5 1/2 and in arena training
with light trail riding on the weekends. When she tied up she was
being lunged to warm her up for her daily lesson.

If I wanted a horse to tie-up I'd take it out of a stall and lunge it.
What better way? No walking warm up. How many horses walk for 15 min. on
a lunge line? I see people lunging a horse before and endurance rides
occasionally and think, "What are they *thinking*?" I've heard a horse
tying horribly after she'd been kept up for several days during snow,
then turned out to have the obligatory running fit. I'm sure they gave
her plenty of grain to "keep warm". I'm such a paranoid freak now that
I've hand walked my horse for 15 min. before letting him have his running
fit in such circumstances.
