[RC] rain sheets and sizing - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I've tried a number of different brands over the years, and I agree that the
best rain sheets are the ones made by Horseware (Rambo & Rhino). The Lite ones
are perfect for milder climates. They're really lightweight, I have a 1000
denier Rambo turnout sheet that weighs next to nothing, yet it keeps the horse
dry and comfortable. And yes, they run VERY large. My 15h arab (short back)
wears a 69", my 14.1 and 14.2h short backed geldings fit into 66", which is
actually a pony size and therefore a bit cheaper :-))) These blankets or
sheets miracoulesly stay in place despite no leg straps, even when the horse is
running, rolling and romping around.
I also have a couple of Big D blankets (they were endurance awards) and they
run a lot smaller. 72" fit snuggly on the 14.2h horse who won them.
Schneiders 72" was too big. Weatherbeetas run pretty large, too, and I didn't
have any luck with them fitting well (tried 69", was okay along the back but
way to wide around the neck). Toklat blankets seem true to size (70" for
14.2h), but they're wool lined and a bit to heavy for our area.
