[RC] itchy horses - Dana B.

Boy, you said a mouthful!  I never realized just how much it affected our one mare, but one of my huge discoveries at the recent Desert Gold Multiday was that not allowing her to itch caused her pulse to hang in the 70s.  When I would get in, drop her bit and give her a really good rub all over her face -boom- down it would drop into the 50s.  I never realized itching could make that kind of a difference!  But it does to her.
 
Given that I'm still riding LD, and given that I generally come in with minutes to spare, getting her pulse down quickly can be a very important issue. :-)
