I would suggest that everyone read Pete Ramey's book
"Making Natural Hoof Care Work For You." Even if you don't agree with
riding your horse barefoot and are adamant about using shoes, this is a very
informative book. It addresses balance issues of the hoof that IMO every
lay person with a horse should understand. There are also a number of
wonderful barefoot websites that also explain the physiology of the horse's
hoof. The information on these sites is helpful to everyone who has a
horse, shod or not.
