Fw: [RC] solar heaters - Dot Wiggins

I'm giving this question one more try. I can;t believe there isn't some
one on ride camp that knows something about this. (I'd settle for "It can't
be done")
Or somewhere else to look for information.

Thanks

Dot

Subject: [RC] solar heaters

We have small solar panels that charge a lot of electric fence. I have a
small solar panel and marine battery in my pickup camper that runs lights,
radio, fan, water pump, etc. Not very expensive. Is there such a thing
as
a solar powered heater for a stock water tank? There are converters from
AC to DC and DC to AC, what would be needed to run a regular small tank
heater from solar?
I know there engineers out there, plus lots of practical experience. Give
me some ideas. I'm tired of chopping ice for the pasture horses. (No
power
out there.)

Thanks much
