Re: [RC] loose dogs mean Howard wins the ride - Barbara McCrary

I used to think that it would be a just penalty to have a very large
hog-wire cage, into which all loose dogs would be thrown, letting the dogs
sort it out amongst themselves. However, "Dogtown" seems to be a better
solution so far.

I have thought that riders who show up with a dog, should be issued a
little
tag, for their dog to wear at the ride, that has a number on it, that is
the
same as the rider number. Any...wait ANY loose dog, will be caught, and
put
in doggie jail. The rider will be notified, and they MUST pay a fine to
get
their dog out. Make it hefty...$50. All money donated to a local animal
shelter. It takes a person willing to do this, and an empty horse trailer
to
act as the dog pound. These people claim they love to have the
companionship
of their dog along with them at the ride, but then they turn them loose,
and
don't pay any attention to them all weekend!

The other option is to just shoot the loose dogs. But someone might
complain about that.(discharge of those guns in camp and all) Never know.
The gun going off could spook some horse that the rider is bent over
underneath it, trying to put easy boots on, as they always ride barefoot,
(and are so proud of it) but they see this ride has rocks, so they don't
want to make their horse sore because it has no hoof protection. And you
know, being a LD rider, they need to be able to go really fast, as they
are
chasing those year end points, and they don't want sore feet to slow them
down. Especially if Howard is at the ride. You know he ALWAYS races......

Did I miss anything?
