[RC] re:Day of the Horse - Judy Houle

Bob Morris, I read the Wild Horse Protection Act and
it says that wild horses are "all unclaimed and
unbranded horses on public lands." To say that the
horses in the holding pens are feral and not protected
is dead wrong. ALL OF AMERICA'S WILD HORSES ARE
FERAL. They originated from Spanish riding horses and
from every other domestic horse that got loose over
the years. Truly wild horses are herds like
Prewzlowski's (sp?) in Asia that were always wild and
didn't come from domestic horses. They are all
protected. Wild Horse Annie worked for years to get
the act passed and now the BLM wants to send them to
Mexico where they don't even slaughter humanely. All
I can say is I hope the no-slaughter bill gets passed.
My feeling is god gave us horses to ride, not to eat,
except under extreme circumstances. They are our
god-given mode of transportation, they helped us
civilize the world and fight our wars and they don't
deserve to be slaughtered humanely or otherwise.
