In CTR, your horse is given
10 minutes to meet criteria, but you really want his
pulse to be better than criteria, because criteria,
such a 64 bpm, is the pint at which he just barely
made it! In MOTDRA CTR, you lose points for any pulse
over 44 bpm. 

We had some CT people working our P&R's once and they were scandelized that so 
many horses were presented to them at 64. I tried to explain to them that 
anybody who presented much lower had done a sorry job of getting to the P&R's 
quickly. If you can trot in off the trail from making good time, pull a saddle 
and get into the pulse area at 64 you've paced yourself perfectly. Any one of 
those horses could have been 44 if they'd walked them from a 2 mile marker. 
It's just a different strategy is all.
