==========================================

I've been following the Arab/Standardbred discussion with a great deal of
interest. Having lived in the heart of Standardbred Racing Community and
Mennonite/Amish Country for the past 25+ years, I've seen and dealt with lots
of them. Standardbreds are a dime a dozen over this way. They are every
size, shape, confirmation and disposition you can imagine. The one factor
that seems to be the same whichever way you look at it is what is
affectionately called around here "The Jughead". Standardbreds are truly
tough, gentle, fast, honest and have wonderful feet as well as brains.
They work their hearts out at whatever venture their current owners ask for.
I have crossed Arabs with Standardbred Trotting horses for years and it always
seems to be a cross that works. I honestly don't know why more people don't
breed this way. I currently own 3 Arab/Stndbd crosses and they are all
awesome. We do lower level dressage, jump them in the stadium and cross
country. They teach new riders, compete in competitive and endurance riding
and excel in just about everything we ask. My friend has a retired Stdbd
gelding that has set records in barrel racing. Our ribbon board grows each
and every time we take them to a competition of whatever venue our riders ask
for. I'd love to breed one of my Arab/Stdbd mares and wonder what cross
Ridecamp horse people would suggest. In over 40 years of riding and training
horses, I have to honestly say, this cross is one of the best. My 3 gals
rock and I love them.
