[RC] Great commentary from Sports Illustrated.com - Howard Bramhall

For those of you who haven't seen the HBO show you depicting the camel jockey slave trade in the UAE you may want to read the following from Sports Illustrated:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/magazine/specials/sportsman/2004/11/12/camel.jockey/

Steph, I'm sorry, but I won't shut up on this issue. I won't respond to Heidi's response, if that helps you any, but, I'm not going to quit speaking out on this issue. I no longer read any of Heidi's posts on this topic, but, I'm only going to "shut up" on this one if you choose to remove me from your site.

I'm sorry if the discussion bothers you. It bothers me, also. It bothers me that more folks aren't bothered. I know that if they had watched the HBO show, had seen what is really going on over there, all on film, those kid's faces, they'd be bothered. REally bothered.

I understand some need confirmation. Please read the Sports Illustrated article. It's considered mainstream press and might help some of you who "just can't believe" the Sheikhs are doing this sort of thing. They are, it's more than just bothersome, and, I'm hoping this topic will never die until the jockey's bodies, those little boys, are no longer being buried in the deserts of the UAE.

After you read the article, please write a response to Sports' Illustrated. It's at the bottom of the article. Get involved. Do something. Here's your chance. Next step: CNN.

cya, Howard
