RE: [RC] Saddlebreds & PBs - Nancy Sturm

If you'll give us a year, we'll let you know.

After much research, lots of questions and a two week trial, all of which
must have driven the seller absolutely mad, my adult daughter just bought a
purebred registered Standardbred to use for entry level endurance.  I
checked the AERC website - there were 64 or so Standardbreds with AERC
numbers, which compared to Arabians is not very many horses out competing.

Our daughter is returning to riding for the first time as an adult and
really needed a bomb proof horse.  Her gelding is so phlegmatic that he
looks like he needs CPR.  He's so relaxed going down the trail that his
lower lips flap.  He climbs like an ATV and descends better than any horse
I've ever ridden.

He's also done one 25 in 2:08, ridden in a halter and pacing the entire
way.  Some would say that  this is way too fast for a first outing and
others would suggest that 25 miles pacing is 20 miles too far, but we
weren't riding him and can't be responsile for anything but taking good
care of this nice horse in the future.
