Here are some trails in the East Bay: Check out EBMUD ( a vast trail system around San Pablo, Briones, De LaVeanga and Upper San Leandro), Tilden Park (by Berkeley), Briones' trails, and Mt. Diablo's trails. Check out the sites below for finding even more. I'm sorry I don't know all that much about them, but thought I might try to help out :).
