Re: [RC] "A Life Remembered" Dr. Marian Molthan - MtnRondi

Our family remembers Marian very well. We first met her in Arizona at the Sun Circle NATRC ride in 1976. She looked like an eccentric type with the funny little hat and the little Connemara stallion, Whiskey. We soon found that she was anything but eccentric. She was very friendly and welcomed our family to Arizona.

The next time we saw her was a few years later at Tevis. We were so flattered that she remembered our family, and again she welcomed us to Tevis and made us feel like we were not with strangers, but with a hugh horse loving family.

Every year we went to Tevis, we would meet with this nice lady and her pony, Whiskey. The year I rode Tevis, in 1984, I found myself behind this tough little team for many miles. In fact, as we were watering our horses below the swinging bridge, I turned to go back up the trail to the bridge but saw Marian and Whiskey wade right out into the river and on to the other side. I figured if they could do it, so could I. I crossed there also with no problems. Well, I wouldn't do it again, but I can say we did it.

I hope Marian got her 1,000 mile Tevis buckle. We were there on her 10th ride and I believe Whiskey had a lamness issue for the first time and did not finish. I hope she made it the following year for her 10th buckle. She was quite a lady and everyone always remembered her and her wonderful little stallion, Whiskey.
