RE: [RC] WEIGHT DIVISIONS - heidiThe AERC Rules on weight are explicit in they determine what is to be weighed. Body and tack! This determination is implicit in that the several articles of tack are not defined nor exactly what the "body" actually is. Alas, Bob, "tack" is a broad term. It is left to the rider not to jettison parts of it at the first vet check--or pick up more at the last vet check to "make weight" at the finish line. Yes, the AERC makes the assumption that riders are honest sportsmen. And quite frankly, I like competing in a sport where for the most part, the riders ARE honest sportsmen. I'm certainly not suggesting that AERC change its policies--simply making comparisons. God forbid we ever have to go through FEI-style weigh-ins with spot checks at vet checks. It is sad that all the above is very often ignored for the sake of ego. I agree!
