The tests were also done on people in hot conditions and it
showed that their skin temps and core temps were lowered
for over an hour. Also it said that when the material was removed from the
heat source (the person)it recharged
and was able to cool again. That would seem to fit an
endurance ride where you are taking your saddle and pad off
at a vet check ever 1-2 hours. Seems to me that it works
in both hot and cold just like they said.

*John, First, I haven't been to any rides there saddles are pads are
stripped every 1-2 hours....rides I
have gone to have only one vet check (Lunch) where all tack is
removed...other vet checks
are quicker with saddle in place.

I still do not believe you can extrapolate tests on humans that may be
wearing clothes with
this material that is exposed to outer air.......to the material that has
the phase change fabric
against the horse.....then a foam insert, then more fabric, then cordura,
then a saddle, then
a rider all between the fabric and the air. Horses no doubt are generating
more heat than a person..

I just believe the pad (and any other kind of pad that makes these
claims)...needs to be tested with
a temp sensor on HORSES....as for the material keeping "core temps"
cooler.....again, needs to be tested
on HORSE, do you have any idea how thick a horses skin is? Also......a
person wearing a suit of this
material (which may cool skin and core temps), again is much, much different
than a horse which only
has a relatively small percentage of his skin area (the small part under the
saddle pad) with this material
against it....rest of horse is exposed to air temp, whatever that
is......show me some SCIENCE that proves
this material in a saddle pad cools skin and core temps of a HORSE.

I am not saying this may be a totally great pad!!! I just have a probem
with unsubstantiated scientific claims.

Karen
