  There were CO's (conscientious objectors) during the Viet Nam conflict
of
all faiths who were stretcher bearers, ambulance drivers, medics, clerks
and other various roles. They didn't believe in violence, unlikely they
would condone child abuse.

Exactly, John.  They made a difference by GOING THERE and being a part of
it, not by staying home.  You're right that they need not be Quakers or
any other specific thing.  But you underscore my point.  One must take
part in order to make a difference.

  This has nothing to do with culture Heidi. This has to do with
International Law that they have agreed to.

It has everything to do with culture.  And history has proven time and
time again how difficult it is to change atrocities in cultures by
legislative means.  Again, it requires involvement of people who think
differently.
