Re: [RC] western saddles - Alice Yovich

You could watch on e-bay or that saddles for sale site somebody
mentioned. Some saddle shops sell on consignment and have a good idea
what things are worth. I've gotten more for mine at those places even
with paying the consignment fee.

I always watch Ebay. You never know what you're going to find!

Sounds like you are short and with a large seat

Well, my seat isn't "that" big <lol> I have long legs for my body, but I'm only 5'4". People think I'm taller a lot of times b/c I do have long legs. It's the leg that puts me in an 18-19 inch English saddle b/c without the larger seat I have my leg hitting the point of the flap. I never thought about it being my leg to butt ratio that made my saddle fit funny. I think that perhaps I'll have a better go this time around with my western saddle (haven't used it since I got the dressage one) b/c in the past I kept trying to pull my leg back under me and I think now I'm ready to let my leg hang more naturally (after having a few lessons to help in this area) Of course, I won't know till I try.

I have never really considered an OF. May have to give it some thought.
