[RC] "human trafficking" - terre

You are absolutly correct concerning the moral choice that every rider
going to Duabi has to make along with the moral choice of AERC Int and
USAE in supporting a country that is involved in human trafficking.

Truman

The problem is, there is no nation in the world--including the US and Canada--that is not "involved in human trafficking". There are significant numbers of people--mostly young women--entering our nations--most from Asian and Eastern Europe--as "slaves"--mostly for the sex trade, but also as cheap labour. Children included.
Do our governments condone it? Of course they don't! Can they stop it? Apparently not--as long as there is a market, and unscrupulous people (for lack of another word) willing to supply that market. This is true in every "civilized" nation in the world, and is perhaps worse in the wealthier ones where the profit margin is higher.
So, are you not holding the enforcement branches of the UAE to a higher standard of efficiency than we ourselves are capable of?

terre (could say more, especially with regards to our good friend Saudi Arabia, but will not post again on this subject to ridecamp out of respect for Steph)
