Oh yeah I remember hearing some people say that leather pads can stretch if they get wet, and thus possibly make shoes come loose and also then don't protect the sole that well. My mare tears all her shoes off regardless so I can't say if this is true but it seems to make sense.

pad.?  I use plastic type pads, as leather I find is not tough enough, cuts/tears too easily; and bonus  - depending on amount of riding and where  I have been riding, can sometimes get two sets out of plastic pads. Of note, with horses, Stephanie M.
