Also be careful with cats. I had two go into comas and almost die
from a tiny amount of ivermectin paste. Only diligent intensive
care and an expensive trip to the vet kept them alive.

April is 110% right here. Be very very very careful with cats.
Many medications made for humans or other species are DEADLY to
cats in even the tiniest amounts. Dewormers, including ivermectin,
are one example, as is Tylenol (don't give any human pain killer
to cats, but Tylenol is a death sentance). Basically, check with
a vet before using medications across species. In many cases
you'll be fine, but in others you won't. And cats tend to be
the most sensitive.

As for the "animals choose to be domesticated" Dabney is totally
on target about cats. The domestic cat is a critter that can go
out and live wild (feral) better than most domestic species. All
their natural instincts are alive & well if needed. But, they
choose to be with us and live lives of comfort. In fact, I don't
think any species is a better connoisseur of comfort than the cat. :)
