I'm glad you mentioned this Angie. After reading a few posts and getting some reactions I'm begining to wonder if I counted wrong....though I have done P&R at a ride and countless times for my own horses.
 
My TWH/QH mare, that I did a few LDs with never vetted in at less then 36, though I too, thought I caught her at closer to 32 at home. I do vaguely remember hearing about Arabs who were much lower and thinking, "Oh no, we can't do this." 'Course for us, the reason I did not continue doing LDs with her was, like you mentioned, mechanical, not pulse related.
 
But again, good for you keeping in mind us newbies...you can get so overwhlemed sometimes worrying about so many different things....but then if we stop worrying we wouldn't be very good endurance riders would we? Ignorance is NOT bliss in this sport.
