[RC] Sports Saddle Issues - Val Nicoson

Recently got myself an older used Sports Saddle as my
mare outgrew her treed saddle <g>. Am using it with a
square western Skito pad as I had been using it with
my Big Horn saddle.
So far have had decent sweat marks on her back but am
concerned about the very narrow dry spot along her
spine. It's pencil thin in width. Shouldn't the
spinal channel be wider than this?
Also, am having problems with the saddle creeping up
onto her withers...and we have only ridden in it any
where from 3-5 miles and that's along flat trails too.

Have tried the saddle with the Skito pad, with a
Woolback pad, with the Skito with a lookalike Dixie
Midnight pad (although have yet to personally see a DM
pad)...and still the saddle creeps up onto her
withers.
Have noted that the cinch is behind her natural cinch
groove though and a friend said this is why. I can
understand and believe this.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems with the
sports saddle? What have you found that works? I
don't want to have to buy alot of equipment without
trying before buying it first...in addition to the
cost as I'm on a limited budget...especially if the
ultimate results doesn't really work.
Is it possible I need a need Skito pad? How does one
decide that it is time to replace it? Seems the foam
and the pad are still in good shape but perhaps I'm
overlooking something?
Any advice appreciated...
Val + Sania
