Marci,
Dodge is higher than most trucks. You can do several things: have the axles
raised on  your trailer: get a flat bed for your truck, then you will have
to worry about hitting the bed.
You can't raise the hitch too much as the trailer should travel as level as
possible.

I have such a setup. My truck is a 1996 Dodge v10 4wd.
Yes, it sits up pretty high. I bought an older
gooseneck trailer. The trailer has plenty of clearance
over the sides of the truck, but it is on a bit of an
incline. Not ideal, but OK.
