[RC] [RC] fear and trust - Now Aussie Saddles - Nat Nelson

A few years back I purchased an Aussie saddle out of
the local newspaper to see if I'd like it. I've always
riden western previously. I got an Aussie without the
horn and it took a few minutes to become acustomed to
the feel. But I had a closer contact to my horse and a
whole lot more balance.

Once I ventured out I was approching one of those
large "horse eating" garbage cans and at the same time
a 4 wheel drive truck with a lift and BIG tires came
humming towards me. I felt my horse tense underneath
me and I KNEW what was going to happen next! He did a
fast roll back, I yelled WHOA! and to my suprise I was
facing the opposite direction still square in the
saddle! Those "mouse ears" in the front of the saddle
act better than any bucking rolls I've ever used on a
western saddle! They've slapped me back into the
saddle many a time and kept me from hitting the
ground.

Heck my Aussie has saved me from everything from alien
looking mules to dasterdly wicked jack rabbits - or
anything else my horse decides to "I'm OUTTA HERE"
with!

I finally wore out that used Aussie, it still has some
life in it, figured I'd give to someone who wants to
try one out one day. But when I was looking for my
next endurance saddle - I got another Aussie. I can
post just fine in it too.

Does anyone have either proof or an opinion as to
whether an Australian saddle helps keep a rider on a
spooky horse better than a regular English saddle?
I've never ridden nor even sat on an Australian
saddle. They look interesting.
