RE: [RC] [RC] AERC - Howard Bramhall

No, AERC does not have too many rules. You won't find many equestrian sports that have so few rules as there are now in the sport of endurance. It definitely seems to be working especially when it comes to equine fatalities in our sport. We now talk about them openly and try and figure out what exactly happened to that horse at a ride.

AERC now has a Welfare of the Horse Committee, an Education Committee, a Veterinary Committee, a Protest & Grievance Committee, all working together to promote the safety and welfare of our horses in this sport. It does seem to be working quite well. The rule changes from the good ole days have saved quite a few lives (horses) and should not get in the way of your goals as a rider as long as you're willing to agree that the horse's health and well being must come first.

The one thing that hasn't changed from the good ole days is there still is no speed limit posted on the trail. AERC seems to be doing their best to keep it that way, promoting rider responsibility, knowledge and common sense, to keep it that way.

Howard

Does anyone think that AERC has too many rules?? As an endurance rider
before the AERC and picking it up again, things are very different. Is it working?
