Re: [RC] Athlete Formula - Jon . Linderman

This is absolutely true Athlete is a supplement not a feed. I spoke w/my
wife last night, one of Purina's equine educator & she gave me the same #'s
& indicated that is supposed to be a top dress supplement, not a feed. The
idea is that as a supplement it still supposedly has the ratios of
vits/mins consistent with their (Purina's) feeds so as not to throw those
ratios out of whack...........personally it reminds me of cocoa puffs and
always made me want to have a bowl of cereal after feeding it. Since the
switch to race ready, and then later to ultium we have no more cocoa puffs
in the barn.

I couldn't find an ingredient list, but did find their analysis list.

It is 14% Protein which may be a bit high
It is 12% Fat which is fine.
It is 4% fiber

With the very low fiber it is obviously intended to supplement hay and beet
pulp. I don't see any great advantage to it, but it certainly doesn't seem
evil.
