RE: [RC] FLIES - Jena Williams

Get Chickens! Let them free range. They will break up the manure and soil and dig out the little fly babies. As a bonus, if you can find where they lay their eggs, you have the best fresh eggs you have ever tasted. I can recommend "Red Jungle Fowl" as the best free range bird I have had. They are a bit rare, but are close to wild stock and have good free range instincts (sleeping in the trees, brooding babies, avoiding being eaten)

A couple commercial sources of chicks:

You can always check with your local feed store to see where you can buy some local birds.

My chickens have really helped me. And they are fun to have around. I have mostly Americaunas (3rd generation free range, but have to incubate the babies) some other domestics, and one Jungle fowl rooster, who is maing some very promising cross bred babies.
